Step 2: verify your account

To verify your WhatsApp Business account, follow these steps:

1. Accept the terms and conditions
2. Select 'Use a different number'
3. Enter your business phone number (without the first 0).
4. Tap 'Next'
5. You will now see the SMS verification screen.
6. Wait 1 minute until 'Call me; turns green.
7. Tap 'Call me'
8. You will receive a call where the code is spoken aloud
9. Write down the code or enter it directly in WhatsApp Business

Make sure your business number’s welcome message is turned off before tapping "Call me". Otherwise, the WhatsApp robot may say the code before you can answer the call.

Since May 2025 you have to wait 1 hour before you can click on 'Call me'. WhatsApp added this rule because of fraud in the UK. So make sure you have a pen and paper ready, to avoid having to wait a long time again to receive your code. If WhatsApp shows an error the first time, try again using 'Call me'.

Step 3: set up your business account
